INSTITUTE RECAP

Talent Acquisition Leaders Gather in Picturesque Pasadena for the 2023 Talent Acquisition Institute

In a world operating on a more remote basis than ever before, in-person gatherings are a crucial time to forge meaningful relationships and advance our opportunities for learning and development through human connection. Moments shared over a coffee, a stroll, a laugh, or a cocktail are invaluable –  moments I think all of us hold a little closer to our hearts post pandemic.

These moments are what help define the Talent Acquisition Institute as an optimal networking event, as the program creates many different opportunities to engage with peers, exchange ideas and impart knowledge throughout the two-and-a-half days. Our staff look forward to hosting this impressive community of Talent Acquisition Leaders every year as we get to carve out a space in these hard-working executives’ schedules to step away from their busy day-to-day and connect with like-minded peers.

What’s more, the attending executives have not had it easy over the last year. In 2022 recruitment problems were at record levels as companies struggled to hire staff, and the talent acquisition industry has needed to be ever more agile and quick to react as workplaces rapidly change and candidate demands shift. TA leaders in 2023 are constantly having to review their roadmaps and adapt to competing shifts in the talent marketplace. The program sought to uncover how to navigate these shifts and challenges, focusing on how executives can re-engineer their hiring and recruitment strategies in an era where candidates are in the driver’s seat.

Candidates are no longer motivated by just money or the corner office – they are craving new elements in their roles that emphasize wellbeing, flexibility, creative benefits, mentorship, strong organizational values, purpose in their roles and more. These meaningful candidate needs make it more essential than ever before for companies to ensure their candidate experience reflects priorities around stronger communication, flexible interviewing, and cultures that put a tangible spotlight on employee support.

Thought leaders on the agenda brought this idea to life through sessions that expanded on employee engagement tactics, diversity in hiring, gaining skillset transparency and developing job architectures to deliver stellar recruitment plans, and how TA and total rewards work together. Some feedback surrounding the agenda included:

  • This event showcased relevant topics. I was able to walk away with tools, and a big list of to-dos.
  • Dynamic speakers – I wanted to immediately follow-up with them after the sessions, and the agenda provided a lot of room to be able to do so. Look forward to keeping in touch with the connections made here.
  • The balance between sessions led by TA leaders versus solutions in the field was spot on. I was able to learn about tools, but also from those doing the job.
  • The intimate setting allowed us to interact directly with presenters. Well done.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our fantastic body of speakers:
