Doubling-Down on Connection: HR Leaders Gather for the HR Management Institute Downtown Los Angeles & Anaheim
Changes to where we work, how we work, and shifting employee expectations have staying power, shaping the future workforce.
Amidst the varying levels of change, HR leaders must continue to rethink how they approach strategies for attracting and retaining talent and keep employees informed and connected to the organization, all while boosting employee productivity.
From the employee side, their relationships to organizations used to be much more transactional. Today it is no longer just about compensation. The pandemic accelerated a nascent search for meaningful work, a heightened desire for flexibility, and the transformative forces of technology.
Needless to say, there has been a lot going on recently in the world of employee dynamics and the HR landscape.
The value of the HR Management Institute lies in the opportunity to meet exclusively with senior HR leaders to address these ever-changing tides and explore solutions to meet business objectives. This year, more than ever before, we saw an uptick in eagerness from our HR community looking to meet like-minded professionals and build connection around the challenges associated with being a People-Leader.
It hasn’t been easy for HR executives operating under increased economic pressures and a fluctuating talent market.
That’s why, for the first time since the HR Management Institute’s inception over a decade ago, from July 23rd – 25th we hosted not one but two intimate networking programs, taking place at the InterContinental Downtown LA and the JW Marriott Anaheim Resort. Hosting two programs, we were able to marry our exclusive event format that has come to be our signature differentiator with the growing interest of a community ever searching for insights and support. Attendees look to these annual two-and-a-half days as place to find answers, form connections and steal a moment to themselves for some much-needed reflection, and we are proud to say we were able to deliver double the impact for 2023.
Each event kicked off with a panel discussion by esteemed Chief Human Resources Officers who took the stage to discuss their leadership visions for 2024 and how their role will continue to evolve. Audiences learned about varying priorities within workforce redesign, adopting and implementing digital innovations, and reporting-out on commitments within employee wellbeing, DEI and ESG.
The events also featured economic outlooks from the Chief Economists at PNC Financial and the California Department of Finance, exploring macroeconomic trends that will impact the future of work, the state of the labor market, and the financial implications for US businesses.
Each program also highlighted multiple perspectives from various HR strategists through the HRTalks series, designed to creatively showcase the latest insights on new concepts, cutting-edge technologies, and creative solutions to help in both day-to-day challenges and overall organizational performance. Benefits Programs centered around the growing importance of employee wellbeing along with digital and AI tools for driving employee development and workforce planning initiatives were shared, among others.
Stepping away from the Main Stage, attendees broke-out into intimate Think Tanks and Roundtables for closer, candid, and deep-dive discussions into some of today’s hot HR topics including how to act on DEIB pledges, approaches to reengineering TA roadmaps amidst an uncertain labor market, the gig economy’s place in the future of work, and how to leverage L&D teams to upskill and train employees.
The events were successful in their mission to drive equal value, effectively summarized through two different yet equally glowing pieces of attendee feedback, collected post-event:
“I thoroughly enjoyed the event. It was a great use of my time, and both the content and vendors were very relevant to the level of the attendees in the room. I have been to hundreds of events in my long career, but few have provided the deeper content that your group shared.” – Downtown LA
“The venue, networking and content was top notch and you had excellent vendors. Well planned, right size, wonderful people, really nice accommodations/food/entertainment. This will continue on my preferred list of events to go to in the future.” – Anaheim
This year an especially heartfelt thank you goes out to the 2023 Advisory Committee, esteemed Downtown LA and Anaheim Speaker Faculties and Sponsoring Partners, and overall attending delegations.
IPMI hosts Institutes with the goal of improving executive’s processes and disseminating strategies that will help the future of work, and this year allowed us to reach a whole new level of connection. Thank you for growing with us whilst supporting our ongoing mission to deliver intimate, stellar event experiences. This is what it’s all about.
